The building and factories business division of Larsen & Toubro has recently taken a EPC order worth INR 3,036 crore from BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Ltd). Under the terms of the deal, L&T Construction would be constructing Terminal-2 (T2) of the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

As per the sources familiar with the matter, the 255,000 sq. mt. Phase 1 of Terminal-2 will enhance the airport capacity by 25 million PPA (passengers per annum).

S N Subrahmanyan, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro Ltd was quoted saying that the deal is a testimony to the company’s capability of delivering highly complex design and building airport projects on time ensuring the safety and quality parameters. The association of the firm with BIAL dates long back and L&T is sure to deliver another world-class airport project to the satisfaction of its client, he added.

Reportedly, the scope of the project includes design, construction, engineering, procurement, testing, commissioning of T2 along with the service and utilities integration with the Airport’s systems, support facilities and buildings.

Allegedly, the design for Terminal-2 was articulated by a leading U.S. based architecture and urban planning, and engineering firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

The company, as per sources with the knowledge of the matter, is also constructing the NSPR (New South Parallel Runway), apron, and various other auxiliary buildings at the Bengaluru Airport. For the record, L&T which operates in over 30 countries worldwide is highly renowned for its technology, construction, engineering, financial services, and manufacturing services. The company generates more than USD 18 billion in revenue annually, as per reliable sources.

In September, the construction arm of Larsen and Toubro bagged an order worth INR 1,157 Crores from the Public Health Engineering Department Rajasthan for carrying out drinking water supply projects in Dungarpur, Pali, and Banswara districts of the state.
