Infrastructure giant Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has confirmed in a statement that its construction arm has secured orders of approx. Rs. 2,360 crore. for rural development projects. Reportedly, the Water and Effluent Treatment and Transportation Infrastructure Business of L&T have bagged order of Rs. 1,281 crore from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA).

Reports indicate that this order is aimed at investigating, designing and constructing culverts, storm water drains, bridges, roads, sewerage systems, water supply systems, STP, utility ducts for power and ICT, avenue plantation and reuse waterlines.

Sources familiar with the matter cite that the above would be compatible with trunk infrastructure in land pooling scheme layouts for the villages of Nidamarru, Kurugalla in Zone 12A area at Amravati City in Andhra Pradesh. The company said that this move is a continuation of the orders it had earlier received at Amravati City.

Further from the reports, the Water & Effluent Treatment Venture of L&T has also secured another turnkey order from Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit (MPJNM) worth Rs. 1,076 crore. This project will supposedly involve executing rural water supply schemes in multiple villages in the districts of Damoh, Seoni, Narsinghpur and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The scope of work for this order includes engineering, design, supply and erection of clear and raw water transmission & distribution pipelines, constructing pumping stations and intake wells. It would also consist of design and construction of water treatment plants, as well as other water retaining structures having associated instrumentation and electromechanical works, such as house service connections.

L&T noted that the project in MP would involve automation, which includes measurement of output and input water quality and quantity at each level through SCADA as well as other instrumentation works which are aimed at maintaining unwanted-for-water (UFW) under desired levels.
